História urbana: a constituição de uma área de conhecimento

Resumen

O texto é uma revisão de literatura.  Aponta e analisa os principais eventos, marcos e discussões que têm pautado a emergência da história urbana como uma área de conhecimento específica. Cobre inclusive os anos '90. Este artigo tem como base principalmente a literatura britânica e americana. Isso se deve em função do papel de vanguarda que esses dois países desempenharam no desenvolvimento das análises históricas sobre a cidade, mas também pelo potencial de difusão internacional dado pela própria língua em que essas contribuições foram feitas. O nosso interesse, no âmbito deste trabalho, está muito mais nos marcos e referências ligados à constituição desse campo de conhecimento do que na produção historiográfica propriamente dita.

Luís Octávio da Silva, Universidade São Judas Tadeu, São Paulo, Brasil

arquiteto-urbanista (Universidade de São Paulo), mestre em administração pública/planejamento urbano (Fundação Getúlio Vargas – São Paulo), doutorando em estudos urbanos na UQAM-Université du Québec à Montréal/INRS Urbanisation, bolsista Capes (Brasil/Brasília), professor no Curso de Arquitetura e Urbanismo da Universidade São Judas Tadeu (São Paulo) e assessor do Programa de Reabilitação do Centro de São Paulo.
