Abstract

This article is based upon the debate on urban studies from the Escuela de Urbanismo de la Facultad de Arquitectura de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia, in Medellín. Proposed by ENSAYOS magazine which's two subtitles are extremely suggestive and show the debate this article aroused: “About poetic-aesthetic interventions of the city”, and “Urban investigation lines”, this approach caught my attention, as a specific particularity that publicly assumes the tension between two ways amongst many of understanding the urban problematic.
Poetic and aesthetic writings about the city abound in Latin-American essay writing, such as Colombian. Strictly speaking, they are almost cultural visions of the city. What we fail to understand is the need to recur to concepts that empty content, typically found in contemporary anthropology and sociology. We intend to comprehend this particular matter.
